About
Dates: Saturdays, August 1 - 8 Time: 10am-1pm (Pacific Coast Time) Format: In Person at Left Margin LIT Ages: Adult Class Description: Are you ready to take a fresh and in-depth look at your chapbook or full-length poetry manuscript? Or perhaps you have a growing pile of poems that suggests a larger whole? In this 2-day course you’ll carry out a series of exercises and experiments aimed at helping you make new discoveries about your work. What does your manuscript hold and what might it still need? How might a collection of poems transform into a work of art that transcends its parts? The course will cover the ordering of poems, revision processes, the various arcs that a manuscript may follow (e.g., narrative, emotional, thematic), and how those all-important opening poems can foreground your voice and your book’s concerns. While we won’t be editing page by page, our activities will allow us to discuss some specific poems selected from your manuscript. LEFT MARGIN LIT'S CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY: If you find that you can't take a class for which you registered, you may request a refund, less a $25 administrative fee, at least 48 hours prior to the start of the first class session. After that threshold, refunds are not possible. If a class doesn't reach its minimum enrollment, it will be cancelled, and all students will receive full refunds.
