About
Dates: 2 Saturdays, July 12 - 19 Time: 10am - 12pm (Pacific Coast Time) Format: ZOOM Ages: Adult Most writers assume that residencies are for "other people"—the connected, the credentialed, the already-published. The application process feels mysterious, competitive, intimidating. But here's the reality: residency selection committees are actively seeking diverse voices and fresh perspectives. The biggest barrier isn't your qualifications—it's knowing how to translate your unique story and project into application language that resonates with reviewers. Drawing on 30+ residencies attended and years judging applications, Faith Adiele will walk you through actual winning applications. You'll draft and workshop your own artist statement and project description, learning to frame your background as an asset rather than a deficit. Participants will leave with polished application materials, a targeted list of residencies that fit their needs and timeline, and concrete strategies for maximizing the residency experience once accepted. LEFT MARGIN LIT'S CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY: If you find that you can't take a class for which you registered, you may request a refund, less a $25 administrative fee, at least 48 hours prior to the start of the first class session. After that threshold, refunds are not possible. If a class doesn't reach its minimum enrollment, it will be cancelled, and all students will receive full refunds.
