Book Arts and Brunch: A Holiday Hands-On Workshop
Dates: Saturday, December 9, 2017
Time: 10 am - 1 pm (with brunch included)
Instructor: cj grossman
Ages: Adult, Teen
Maximum Enrollment: 9
Genre: Nonfiction/Publishing
Price: $100 (including $12 materials fee)
This class is a departure from Left Margin's regular writing workshops. If you love books and literature, whether you're a writer or not, here's your chance to make something beautiful in one morning, with minimal pressure and lots of inspiration. Also: coffee and brunch. What's art-making without coffee and brunch?
In cj's classroom, you won't write, but will share the love of words on paper by making your own books and cards. Working with fabric, collage, folding, and binding methods, and perhaps some of your favorite literary passages, each person will create several cards and at least two small books which can contain your own writing or be left blank and used as gifts for the holidays. cj will show you many unique methods for making beautiful artworks, and you will leave not only with gifts for your loved ones, but with many new artistic techniques, inspiration, and the supplies to continue making!
cj grossman has an MFA from California College of the Arts and exhibits her work internationally. She has taught thousands of adults and children how to make books, cards and mixed media art. cj's dog, Shayla, likes to watch cj in the art studio (or the kitchen!), when not playing ball with her imaginary friend, Milo.
