Call it the Poetry Action Committee, or Poetry Advent Calendar, or Poets’ Accountability Club: whatever you call it, we’re aiming to ramp up the poetry in your daily routine! April is National Poetry Month, and you deserve more lyricism in your life. Here’s how to get it.

Join this group for inspiration and motivation all month long. On April 1, participants will each state a concrete poetry writing goal for the month, whether that’s to write 30 first drafts or one poem per week, or to try your hand at a form or two—and then we will help you hold yourself to it. Everyone will receive a daily email with a poem to inspire you and a writing prompt to get your pen moving. All participants will have access to a private online forum in which to share drafts and support each other’s writing. This isn’t a course, so there is no formal instruction, but this group can be a great complement to a poetry workshop. Rachel will, however, guide the group and be available to offer advice as needed.

Participation in SuperPAC is entirely virtual, over Slack. This is a great way to tap into our community and give yourself writing structure on your own schedule.

Rachel Richardson is the author of two books of poems, Hundred-Year Wave and Copperhead. She has taught at a number of universities, including Stanford and USF’s MFA in Writing program, and at San Quentin Correctional Facility. She has been awarded NEA and Wallace Stegner Fellowships, and her poems have been published in the New York Times Magazine, Slate, and many journals.
