Believable characters. Vivid scenes. Convincing conflicts and powerful plots. A writer could spend years mastering the elements of the short story, but can we do it in a single day? We’re going to try!
In this one-day intensive workshop, we’ll dive deep into the craft of short-story writing. Together, we’ll study the anatomy of short fiction written by critically acclaimed authors, engage in story-building exercises, and get to work writing a first draft.
There will be opportunities for feedback from both your peers and the instructor, and at the end of the day, you’ll be armed with a fresh understanding of the techniques of compact storytelling and a plan for moving your draft towards a vibrant, unputdownable story.
*COVID Policies for in person classes at LML:
1. Masks are recommended but not required.
2. COVID vaccinations are required. (We are no longer asking for record of vaccination and will now operate on an honor's system.)
