Poetry nourishes, delights, and comforts us in times of need. It’s “the one place where people can speak their original human mind,” according to Allen Ginsberg. In that spirit, come speak your mind by joining this rigorous class for experienced poets who have already published their work, newcomers dabbling in the genre, and everyone in between. During our six weeks together we’ll explore some of the vital genres of lyric poetry, including the sonnet, ode, and pastoral traditions from past to present. Workshop discussions and challenging, playful writing assignments will enhance your own unique method of crafting poems. Our collective objective is to offer you strategies and techniques that will create more lyric energy and magic in your work.
